How to be Most Efficient in Your Work

Normally, there are 365 days in a year. But every four years, we get the gift the precious gift of a whole extra day in February. (This is so that our yearly calendar matches the Earth’s orbit around the sun.) In short, our time is valuable, and we want to make sure you are prepared to make your extra day extra efficient. That’s why we’ve put together a list of four things you can do to be most efficient in your work.

Make a list

When you first sit down at your desk, with your piping hot cup of coffee, what do you do? Do you look through your calendar for the day? Or, go catch up on emails? However you choose to spend your first moments, creating a to-do list for your day will help streamline your tasks and make you efficient in your work. Plus, think of the satisfaction you’ll get by checking those things off!

Prioritize

Now that you’ve made your list, look at your schedule and prioritize your tasks. Maybe your day is packed with back to back meetings, or perhaps you have a project deadline coming up. As you prioritize your tasks, you can map out what you are able get done verses what needs to wait.

Communicate

Communicating what you are able to do within a workday, whether that’s to your manager, your teammates or your clients gives clear and realistic expectations to everyone involved and will help your efficiency. Additionally, as you continue to communicate you are giving yourself and your peers accountability to keep your projects and work on task.

Delegate

After you’ve created clear lines of communication and if you have the ability to, delegate to others on your team. Be realistic about what you and others can handle and work together to make that magic happen! Teamwork can help your efficiency and contribute to the efficiency of your entire company.
